Full Description

In 1892, the squire, R. Millington Knowles, decided [upon] building a new church. By A. W. Brewill, a lavish design for a village church, with crossing tower and spire and richly carved decorative detail inside. (1)
Timber sampling of 16 core samples from the bell frame in 1994 produced at felling date of 1609/10. (2)
Two site visits in 2016 during restoration of the churchyard gate and pathway, and associated works noted that ‘ground disturbance during the course of the works barely penetrated below the topsoil. No graves were disturbed and no human skeletal remains were noted. No other significant archaeo-logical artefacts were recovered’. (3)
