Quarry. Gravel pit (1)
Located to investigate a geophysical anomaly recorded by both the gradiometer and resistivity surveys, excavation revealed a thick deposit of dark grey clay containing abundant modern debris (plastic, wire, brick, metal etc.), extend[ing] in excess of 2m below ground level, the deposit was not bottomed … backfill, associated with the nearby infilled quarry.
