IA/Ro farmsteads. (1)
A rectangular enclosure defined by ditches, 18.5m E-W by 11.5m N-S was excavated. The entrance was on the west side. The recut N, E and W ditches contained scored pottery of middle IA date. The NW corner of the enclosure was cut by the construction trench of a circular hut, with its entrance to the E, associated with late IA pottery. A second hut on the E side, and a rectangular steep-sided pit. (2) (6)
This field has been excavated for gravel. (3)
At site 1 a rectangular ditched enclosure of 15 by 20m containing pits and post holes was dated to the Iron Age by finds of Ancaster-Breedon type scored pottery… Of the four small settlements that began in the Iron Age, Site 1 (and Site 4) went out of use. (4)
