Full Description

3 sides of double rectangular enclosure with non-parallel sides. (1)
Perambulated, no finds or surface remains. The site is very low lying adjacent to a former stream, and must have been very liable to flooding. (3)
Enclosure covers just over 1Ha. Field walking (19/11/1978) produced C2 and early C3 AD Ro pottery including grey wares, Dales ware, and one abraded sherd of Gaulish samian. Although generally situated towards the foot of a gentle southward slope to the River Smite; this Ro enclosure was actually positioned on a small, slightly raised, natural platform which could only be recognised in the field. (4)
See L 8058 for Med pottery, L 8059 for flint, L 1192 for cropmarks to N.
