Full Description

Anglo-Saxon pottery first found by fieldwalking by Mr M Grey in 1972, at above grid ref. Further fieldwalking by Mr Grey and RC Alvey produced in all 281 sherds. It was noted at the time that the land surface was dotted with patches of ash and cremated bone, and the site is assumed to be a ploughed- out cemetery. Subsequent fieldwalking in the area has failed to find any further traces, and it must therefore be assumed that with the possible exception of a small strip alongside a dyke, it has been ploughed out completely.
