Full Description

Bridge over the River Smite carrying a road. Triple span structure built in a C18 style. However, there are blue brick courses at the base of the piers suggesting either a later (C19) date of construction, or just later repairs. (1)
Shown on Sanderson, situated on 'Thorobridge Lane' (2) and also on Chapman (3).
Shortlisted as a particularly architecturally elaborate bridge, and also one of only two brick bridges surveyed to have a three-span structure. (4)
Three bridges at Whatton in the C16 - Thorough or Thorrow Bridge may also be early. (5)
Reference to Thorrow Bridge or Thyough Bridge c 1620. (6)
