Full Description

An extensive scatter of Ro pottery dating from C2-C4, was located along the S edges of the field centred SK 76054878, in the SE corner of the field centred SK 78544885, and along the E edge of the field centred SK 75854865. This distribution suggests that the main area of the site is in the N half of the field centred at above NGR, which was lying fallow in 1964. A pipe trench dug across this field from the SE corner to the NW revealed a pit containing grey ware sherds. In the first field were fragments of tile, including tegulae and 4 tesserae with mortar still adhering. (1)
The indicated site falls on freshly ploughed arable land. Nothing of interest was found and enquiries at the farm were negative. (2)
