Full Description

A Ro well was excavated by Mr G Sulley of NWM. It was barrel shaped and lined with 24 courses of stone blocks. Pottery found within the well has not yet been dated. The site is immediately adjacent to the Car Dyke and is now covered by a concrete abutment of a new bridge. Mr Sulley said he saw a scatter of pottery c 10010m NNW of the well but perambulation failed to locate this in an area at present under potatoes. Other adjacent fields are all permanent grass. (1)
