Dense complex of enclosures and linear features. Numerous small enclosures adjoining and overlapping, along (roughly) parallel linear feature. (1-3)
OS general description - The field immediately across the road from that site (SK 737409), which also contains marks of some intensity, still carries standing corn - a poor crop apparently not to be harvested. Elsewhere nothing of interest was seen. The whole area is flat, level arable fields, bordered on the E by rising ground. (4)
The entire complex of ditched enclosures, levelled by agriculture, covers more than 6 acres. (5)

The cropmark site is at present unique in the Trent basin. They could encompass a massive sub-oval ditched enclosure with an internal area of almost 20Ha. A remarkable density of IA and Ro features was recorded within a c 50m zone adjacent to the enclosure boundary, including pits, post holes and curving gullies which could represent the foundations of circular buildings or associated drainage gullies. They suggest dense occupation inside at least one part of the enclosure during these periods. (7)
The magnetometer results showed marked correlation with the cropmark plots. However, there is some discrepancy in the location of most features. (8)
