Full Description

At the junction with Little Lane, almost as far W as Foxwood Terrace, is a group of houses slightly above the level of the road, with their long windows prominently displayed. (1)
By the side of Little Lane is another pair of cottages on S side with the usual ground floor knitter's windows, nice, well maintained pair. (2)
Ground floor workshops … Houses of this kind continued to be built until well into the 19th century, as an example dated 1857 in Calverton demonstrates. (4)
North gable has the inscription 'M.S. 1857' in burnt headers. (5)
Many Nottinghamshire houses of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries display their date of construction with burnt header bricks arranged in numbers and letters on a blank red brick wall. This former group of three framework knitters cottages is such a building inscribed on the north gable with 'MS 1857'. Like nearby Windles Square, the knitters workrooms with their large windows are located on the ground floor. (6)
