Full Description

Caythorpe mill dated 1749, now converted into a house. (1)
At the S end of the village is a watermill converted into a dwelling on opposite side of the road to Black Horse PH. (3)
The earliest reference to this mill is 1589 when it is mentioned in the Perambulation round Sherwood Forest and it ceased milling in 1952. The present building is dated 1749, is a long low building of two storeys and had an internal wheel 17ft diameter by 5ft wide. It was undershot and timber with metal spokes and rim. It was reported in 1666 and again in 1726 as having three wheels under one roof. (5)
