Full Description

Large group of framework knitters' cottages in Foxwood Terrace. A row of 8 cottages built at right angles to the main street ... a 2nd row, built slightly earlier, adjoined the terrace along the main road until it was demolished a few years ago ... The houses have 2 main ground floor rooms and a back kitchen (ill). One of these rooms was designed as a workshop, with a window at each side running almost its whole length ... the 8 cottages might have contained 30-40 machines when the domestic industry was at its height. Framework knitting ceased here in 1920. (1)
Demolished by 1972.
