One mill in 1086. (1)
New mills erected by Sir Thomas Stanhope in 1590s, associated with a weir and locks on the Trent. (2)
1609 map shows "Shelforde Mills" to south of "Sheepe brideg" - on "The Dam", which is an old line of the Trent. (3)
