Full Description

A hoard of 289 Ro copper coins (ranging from Gallienus to Carausius (253-294) in a pot, was found --/07/1949 by workmen dredging gravel at above grid ref. Pieces of the pot and other coins were thrown back into the pit and not recovered. It is unusual in hoards of this period that 40 coins are of Carausius, all identifiable as being of the London mint.
