Full Description
About 400yds SE of Thieves Wood, just N of the turning to Blidworth from the Mansfield-Nottingham Road, is a large ditch running E-W with a curve to the NW near the Mansfield Road. At the latter point the ditch splits into 2 sections. They may be hollow ways ("Med or older roads"). (1)
A series of well defined hollow-ways, now forming the N boundary of a small wood, can be seen at this point. They conform to (1) and to Rooke (? see L2586). There are no traces of other earthworks and the hollow ways indicate a route of some antiquity even in Rooke's time - presumably Med. (2)
All former earthworks at this position have now been ploughed out. (3)
See L2558, L2575 - earthworks to W, L2586 - possible camp and barrows.
