Full Description

At Grange Farm are two terrace rows of cottages at right angles to each other, known as Grange Cottages. These are clearly the remnants of a formerly more exensive cotton mill township built by the Robinsons. Other rows, since demolished, are shown on Sanderson's survey. (1)
2 terraces of cottages at right angles, forming an L shape away from the road. These are late C18 (c.1790) and reasonably well preserved - some even have unmodernised windows. (2)
Row of 4 cottages. c.1790. Built by George Robinson for the workers at his new Cotton Mill. (4)
The stone range is probably earlier than the brick range and the former was constructed in two phases, the south end (46 and 47) have slightly thinner exterior wall. It is constructed of coursed rubble with coped gables and brick stacks. The southern four bays of the stone terrace stand on a rough plinth. (5)
Associated with nearby Grange Mill - see M2582.
