Full Description

About 400 yds ESE of Bankwood Farm, running E-W along the N side of the valley,is a raised ridge, traceable for a distance of nearly a quarter of a mile. The writer was able to cut a section which showed the ridge to be made of gravel and flanked by 2 small ditches 2ft 6in deep. At one point the ridge is overridden by the ancient bridle road between Epperstone and Southwell. It is obviously a work of some age, probably a road and possibly Ro. (1)
Masonry, bank 12ft wide to flanking ditches (above grid refs). (2)
A wide perambulation of the areas indicated and enquiries of local farmers revealed no surface indication of this possible road, or knowledge of sectioning noted by (1). There is no indication of masonry. (3)
Bulldozed by Boot's some years ago. Doubtfully Ro. (4) (5)
See L 2785 for Ro coin found to N.
