4.2Ha marching camp discovered in 1976. The camp, which is crossed by Longland Lane, a road running SW from Farnsfield village, is situated on level ground not far from the low hills of the keuper marl outcrop on which are 2 small hillforts within a distance of 3 km. (4)
Site of Ro fort under ploughland. Cropmark photos show that the fort measures approx 220m by 190m, and has a clearly visible entrance to the SW. It lies on a slight plateau in surrounding flatlands and is near to the hillforts of Oxton and the so-called fort at Combs Farm. This fort probably dating to the period when the Fosse Way was the frontier line in the mid C1. (5)
Excavation by Sherwood Arch Soc, 3 trenches were cut. An entrance was identified on the NE ditch, but no post holes found. V shaped ditch, pottery probably C1 AD. (6)
A ploughed field - nothing visible. (7)
