Full Description

Small complex of linear features, parts of rectangular enclosures with internal features. (1)
Area under hay, now being harvested. There is no surface trace of the enclosures but a wide perambulation produced Ro pot (L8402) The area of marsh has now been infilled. The general surface of the field is very undulating and irregular ... The topographical situation is open, the site doubtless forms part of the extensive IA/Ro complex in this region. (2)
Morph: 194.8.1 enclosure, UP Settlement. (3)
Excavation on the edge of the low gravel island in Lamb's Close (SW part of the cropmarks) revealed the denuded remains of a rectilinear boundary system, dated on the basis of a small quantity of mainly abraded pottery to the late Iron Age and Romano-British periods. The focus of occupation may have lain nearby to judge by the quantities of fire cracked pebbles which were obtained from some of the ditches and may have been located upslope. (4)
See L8402 for Ro finds, L3124 - redoubt to N, L2985 - cropmarks on 75 NE.
