Full Description

Watermill 1870. Large brick building (60ft x 50ft) constructed over fast flowing river. Brickwork still sound, but fittings either removed or destroyed (including wheel and axle). Obviously very important at one time - miller's cottage attached to main building at rear (in very bad condition). Looks like fire destroyed buildings at some time (01/07/1969). (1)
A small water corn mill, now very derelict after a fire. The wheel, which was a breast wheel, has gone. (3)
In the C17 and C18 the watermill powered a fulling mill … By 1832 it was in the hands of the well known milling family Fryers. It suffered a major fire c 1944 after which milling ceased and the remaining machinery was removed. (4)
Named 'mill'. (5)
Watermill shown. (6)
