Full Description

A cross formerly stood in the middle of Newark Market Place. Documents mention its existence in 1332 and that it was roofed c 1550. The last known reference to it was by Stukeley in 1724. (1)
Newark Market Place is still in use as such. There is no indication of the former cross, and no early maps/plans are available locally. The market place is centred to above grid ref. (2)
