Full Description

Earthwork, grassed and in good condition. Its form of construction and the topographical situation of both works in relation to the main siegeworks of Newark, suggest them to be minor defence works of the Civil War. (1)
Redoubt at Crankley Point lies 450 yds S of M3609. It is described as a redoubt of the Scots, to secure the bridge. The surviving work is a square enclosure, surrounded by a bank and ditch, each side measuring 65ft along the bank. The bank, 1.5ft high, and the ditch, 1ft 2in deep (max) are 30ft wide overall. A narrow entrance on the N side may or may not be original. (3)
No change. (4)
Morph: 201.4.1 fort. (6)
Earthwork. (7)
See M3609 for nearby earthwork, M3608 for Colonel Grey's Sconce.
