Full Description

Defences at Coddington now consist of a few eroded banks and ditches. Only the S part of the village was enclosed, in a rectangle approx 500yds by 250yds with a N-S axis parallel to the line of the lane. Med moat at SW corner was left out. (1)
Perambulation of the postulated perimeter of Coddington defences revealed no surface evidence to authenticate the line; the "eroded remains " of the NE and SE corners are not evident on the ground; although now under pasture, rig and furrow indicate early ploughing. (2)
See L8528-31for remaining or traceable portions, see M3650 for moat.
See (1) for details and map. Grid ref general.
