Hawton Gypsum Quarry. (1)
Opened 1881, owned by Cafferatas. Connected by railway to Beacon Hill quarry. (Photos of quarry, works and railway). (2)
Complex consists of grinding mill, boiler house, washing plant, workshop, canteen and tank, mostly intact but disused. Some have been demolished. See NIAR archive file for detailed description. (3)
Grid ref for buildings, quarry extends onto 75 SE. See L3502 for tramway to Trent, M13968 for grinding mill.
