Full Description

At Bradmer Hill, in the triangle formed by the Warsop - Clipstone and Warsop - Edwinstowe roads is a large ditch, c 12ft in average depth and c 40ft across at its widest. Its depth is irregular, and its course sinuous from W to E. There is no sign of a bank but it is too wide and too irregular for a road groove. It is sited on Bunter sandstone. (1)
A series of quarries broad and deep to the W, narrower and sharp "V" section to the E with a S entrance. Not an antiquity. (2)
The most obvious interpretation is that this was a quarry. The W end of the ditch terminates at the Mansfield to Edwinstowe road which was built after mid C18. The ditch cuts through ridge & furrow (L9552). (3)
