Nixon and Knowles timber yard. Once a stone foundry supplying sandstone for foundation and lower parts of Houses of Parliament. Roof has its original tiles, but was 5ft higher before 1924-5, when the timbers were taken out and the roof dropped 5ft. Probable that building was in existence c 100 years before it appeared in the deeds of Mansfield (13/07/1965). (1)
Owned by Lindleys from c 1845 until well into this century - also owned what are now Gregory's Quarries. The building is in grey stone, although some alteration have been made in red brick. See IS card for further details (20/07/1965). (2)
