The smallest of the Domesday settlements was Wirchenefeld … It has been identified with Inkersall Grange (ref to (1), but that actually gives Inkersall Farm) ... There is no positive evidence that it was populated, but Rufford possessed land there by 1156 and in c 1180 a peasant named Wisi of Wircnesfeud was farming at Eakring. (3)
Inkersall Farm is C19 and the manor, 350m to the W was built in 1939, replacing an earlier building. Enquiries here established that much stone is found scattered about just below the surface. Remains of 2 large, but undateable millstones can be seen but no earthworks indicative of desertion are apparent. Inkersall Dam S of manor, possible cause of depopulation. (5)
