Cropmarks indicating extensive enclosures and linear features probably Ro. (1)
On 8162/14 cropmarks also show in adjacent field to E. (3)
All the marks fall in what is now one large level arable field. Slight undulations appear natural and do not seem to relate to any features on the photo. Lightly ploughed corn stubble when visited, nothing of interest was found. (4)
As expected the Ferry Lane Farm cropmark complex proved to be of Romano-British date, preceeded by a late pre-Roman Iron Age phase. There is clear evidence of domestic activity whilst the morphology of the cropmarks is indicative of agricultural activity. (6)
