Full Description

The tower stands on a Saxon foundation, and during the process of underpinning some herringbone masonry was found. (1)
DB records a priest and a church at Sutton on Trent. (2)
Mainly C13 with a C16 chapel. Restored without mutilation in 1932. Consists of nave with clerestorey, aisles, chancel and S chapel. Fine benches in chancel. Early C16 rood screen in S chapel with loft and gallery. Old font with C17 cover. (3) (4)
No Saxon work could be identified in the visible fabric. (5)
