Full Description

An unlocated deserted Med village known as Clowne, approx above grid ref (site of "Clown Hill Plantation"). (2)
Not located. While discussing the site with Mr M Dalby, Keeper of Arts, Doncaster Museum it was suggested that this was a forest settlement and as such had no permanence. (3)
The village clearly takes its name from the river. Recorded as "Clune" in DB. (4)
