Full Description

The unlocated deserted Med village of Gledthorpe. (2)
The NGR above falls deep within the bounds of the Med Sherwood Forest and Gledthorpe was probably a forest settlement without hall or church and having no permanent location. There are certainly no surface indications of desertion in proximity to the modern hamlet which carries the name. AP investigation also negative. (3)
Gleadthorpe, "kite-village", is probably Scandinavian in origin. Recorded as "Gleturp" in DB. (4)
