Full Description
Clumber Ho is Clunbre, Clubre in DB. The stream name, Clun (now Poulter) shows that some Britons remained in the Forest and amalgamated later with the Anglian settlers coming up from the Trent. (1)
Forest Settlements absorbed in parkland - Clumber (above grid ref), Tax quota 6s relief, 1434, 68%. (2)
These minor settlements possessed neither manor house, church or permanence, and remains are virtually always non-existant. There are certainly no surface evidences of Clumber in the above suggested area. (3)
