A complex of rectangular enclosures and parallel linear features - trackways ? (1) (2)

Cropmarks at Bracken Hill of at least 6 subrectangular enclosures, associated with brickwork plan fields probably of Ro date. Some field boundaries are traceable and are up to 90.0m apart. (3)

Morph: 87.20.1-2. 87.21.1-4 group: Unknown Prehistoric Settlement (including 87.21.1 Unknown Prehistoric Farmstead, 87.21.2 Unknown Prehistoric Trackway, 87.21.3-4 Unknown Prehistoric Field Boundary. (4)

The definite archaeological responses recorded during a geophysical survey correspond with the cropmark data, and although fragmented, the pattern of the enclosures can still be seen. The possible archaeological anomalies are likely to be associated with the complex but are weaker in magnetic strength and have no corroborative cropmark evidence. The anomalies are typical of what would be expected of a Romano-British enclosure recorded in the wider landscape. (5)
