Full Description

Grotto, c 1765, by Stephen Wright for the Duke of Newcastle. Rockfaced ashlar, slab roof, single storey, single bay. Contains late C19 water turbine driving 3 throw water pump. There is an earlier diesel engine and pump from the building beside the Grotto, now stored in a garage in the old stableyard. The turbine at the Grotto still pumps water and has a back up diesel engine and pump. (1)
