Full Description

A large depression marks the site of the "Claie Pit" shown on (2).
It is close to the junction of Freeboard Lane and the Blythe Road. The bunter sandstone ridge is overlain by a capping of clay which has been exploited in a number of places. Other pits were seen at SK 64157385 on both sides of the ride which runs along the N side of Thoresby Border. There are probably other pits in the area of Claypit Wood around SK 638739. (1)
See M 4590 - record for Clumber Park.
