Full Description
4 rectangular enclosures picked out by increased growth in vegetation - possibly modern / recent. (1)
Many of the tracks leading off the Lime Tree Avenue have low earth banks alongside them. These form rectangular enclosures and being areas of fairly recent disturbance are marked by contrasts in vegetation, being favoured by heather and birch saplings. There are also a variety of pits and scrapes. Reputedly caused by the trench digging machine used in the park during WW2. The nature of the banks would suggest that many of the features were made by bulldozers for the storage of stockpiles of ammunition. The sharp corners and relatively small width of the disturbance would preclude their being made by the trench digger. (2)
Morph: 65.3.1-4 Unknown Enclosures. (3)
