Full Description

A school "planned in accordance with the Regulations of the Educational Department" with provision made "for the accommodation of 100 children" was proposed in 1888 to be built at Hardwick. A school is shown on (2) on the corner at the junction of the lane to Allotment Cottages (now New Cottages) and the main Hardwick village road (now the grounds of the Chantry). The building shown is of similar plan to that proposed in 1888. This school probably replaced the earlier school house, which is distant from the village. The site is now in the grounds of the Chantry. (1)
