Full Description

The moat forms 3 sides of a rectangle. In the angle between the church and the vicarage, substantial foundations were located with the probes on the W side of the vicarage. (2)
The earthworks are the only remains of the manor house of Richard de Weston, where Queen Eleanor died in 1290. Only 2 sides of the moat are easily discerned - 1.50m deep and 5.00m wide. The third side referred to above may be a shallow ditch on the N side but this looked as though it was part of the rig and furrow in the N part of the field. (4)
See M4711 for All Saints Church.
