Full Description

Blyth Bridge was built by Wm Mellish Esq about 1764 at the same time that he divided the River Rhyton, enlarged the lake, diverted and formed a new road as an approach to the bridge and further road of the Priory of Blyth. The distant view of the bridge from the Priory is very handsome. (1)
Stone balustrade in the centre over arch and wrought iron railings. (2)
A once fine magnesian limestone built bridge and balustraded parapets with bulbous ballisters - many broken and replaced or gaps covered with pole fence and wire with temporary red tape. No road restrictions. 3 arches over the river and side walls. (3)
Very elegant 3 arch bridge. (4)
The … surviving bridge of 1770 [was] probably built by John Carr, a great friend of William Mellish. (5)
