Full Description

A near rectangular enclosure with entrance showing, to the N of the field - with outer ditch and subsidiary ditch leading off to E. Another enclosure complex to the S too. (1)
Further AP evidence has revealed a more complicated picture. Other small rectangular and square enclosures have been revealed with some associated linear features. (2) (3) (4) (5)
Cropmarks of a cluster of at least 4 subrectangular enclosures, associated with irregular plan fields possibly of pre-Ro date, S of Mattersey Sand Pit. A large enclosure of 2.4Ha in area encloses another of 0.65Ha in area which has an entrance on its E side. At the SW corner of this complex is a further enclosure of 0.25Ha. A row of 3 small enclosures at the side of a field at SK 687873 are from 0.1 to 0.12Ha; 4 isolated enclosures are up to 0.14Ha in area. To the E, 2 parallel ditches 4.0m apart follow a curving line.
