Full Description
In Serleby was formerly a chapel a member of Hareworth, but destroyed. (1)
The chapel of Serlby is mentioned in a charter of John, count of Mortain, dated between 1191 and 1193, defined as part of the chapelry of Blyth. (2)
Within the grounds of Serlby Hall there is a large mound, thickly wooded with shrubs and undergrowth, this was once the site of a church all traces of which have long since disappeared. (3)
NB The mound refered to in (3) may be L 9451, see M 17240 for icehouse. (4)
