Full Description

Baburde, "Babbas enclosure" in DB, Babbesworth in Lay Subsidy Roll, 1332. (1)
Babworth, identified since 1954 (no evidence). (2)
Babworth village was presumably in the vicinity of Babworth Hall (hence above grid ref), and cleared when the park was constructed. (3)
No DMV remains can be seen on APs, 2 linear marks in the park are probably carriage drives leading to the hall. (4)
Babworth Park is now mainly under farm. Extensive perambulation and local enquiry were both negative and a more precise siting for this village was not obtained. The AP markings have both been farmed and are not visible on the ground. Early maps not available for consultation. (5)
