Full Description

Present owner (Mrs Longbottom) estimates that the mill was built c.1820. Had 3 pairs of grindstones of which a pair of grey stones remain. Steam engines installed c.1860, new engines 1927, mill closed in 1930 due to lack of trade. Building in state of disrepair and now used as a chicken house. Very little of the inner structure remains. The buildings which were originally used to generate steam power now house pigs. All machinery has been sold. Tall chimney has date 1896 inscribed on one of the stones (01/05/1968). (2)
Brick tower mill with ogee cap, no roof, ball finial. Had 3 pairs of stones. 1 pair of peak stones and 1 pair of French burrs still in position but with no other gearing or machinery. (4) (5)
