Full Description

The chapel at Scrooby, temp Henry II, was given to a chapel near "the great church of York", by Roger, 31st archbishop. The church, dedicated to St Wilfrid, is described by Leland in 1541. It was restored in 1862. (1)
The church was rebuilt c.1380 and badly restored, 1864. (2)
Embattled tower, nave, and S aisle. The church is Perp throughout. Restored in 1864 by C. J. Neale. No provable connection with William Brewster, the Pilgrim Father. The Puritan group ... from Scrooby … tried to flee to Holland in 1608 ... and finally sailed [to America in the Mayflower] in 1620. (3)
The church is still in use for public worship. (4)
