Full Description

Corn mill, 1840, disused. Stands on E bank of Chesterfield Canal, immediately S of the main Gainsbro/Misterton road. One wheel (20ft x 9ft) installed 1840/50, of cast iron, with iron buckets, in 8 segments. Removed c 1946 (due to decline of canal). Driven by water from Gringley/ Misterton section of canal. This gave fall of 24ft with surface water of 4in wheel developed 18hp. Connected directly by crown pinion to fly wheel of steam engine which supplemented wheel. (--/11/1968). (1)
