BRINSLEY HALL is an ancient farmhouse formerly encompassed by
a moat. Adjoining the building is an ancient Catholic chapel
dedicated to St. Chad. Human bones, skulls, etc., have been
frequently dug up in the orchard. (2)

Manorial history of Brinsley. No mention of Hall or chapel. (4)

The moat has now been completely filled in. A farm building
[indicated on ground at SK 4533 4931] has always been
associated locally with the chapel. Nothing is known of the
site of the burials. The name "Brinsley Hall" still applies. (1)

There are no extant remains of a moat now visible. The farmhouse
is a nondescript two-storied building of rubble largely rebuilt
in brick. No evidence of a Md. house can be seen.

The farm building, identified with the Chapel, is an 18th c.
brick barn. Round-arched entrances, ventilation slits and
somewhat elaborate gables, all in brick, would seem to have
suggested the identification. No real trace of the chapel could
be found in the area of the farmhouse. (4)

Hall farmhouse. Late C17. Altered and extended c1875. Interior is said to be without timber framing. Grade II (full account in Listed Buildings volume.)
