Full Description

The word Borough has been linked to the E portion of E Leake in the Borough Pool still remembered by the oldest inhabitants. Hard by the site of this pool an earthwork ... can be seen. E Leake village identified with the DB "Berew' Lecche". (1)
Nothing visible on available APs. (2)
Local informants site the "Borough Pool" at above grid ref. This is still a minor pond/ford into which the feed stream is canalised. The pond retains its ancient tradition of being the centre of village activity and is still the focal point of an annual village carnival. There is no evidence of an adjacent earthwork. (3)
