Market Cross. (1)
This is presumably the market cross in Mansfield where James I was proclaimed king [1603]. A drinking fountain and horse trough have been added to its base, and the shaft has been heavily restored with stucco. (2)
The cross is still as described above. (3)
A small square … in the centre the C16 or C17 Market Cross with sundial and ball finial on a tall stone shaft. (4)
