The stones of the Castil were fetched as sum say, to make the fair lodge in Wyrksoppe Parke not yet finished. This Erle of Shrewsbyri's Father was aboute to have finished hit, as apperith by much hewyd stone lying there. (1)
Lodge Farm, name confirmed by Mrs Bowett, owner's wife, is a five-storey private residence, built in 16c. style, entirely of stone, with ashlar dressings. Some of the multi-light stone mullioned windows have been restored, but many are original: At third floor level is a large mullioned and transomed window at front and rear of the house. Above ground and third floor are moulded stone string courses around the house. Original doorways have four centred arches and decorated steps to the moulded surrounds. The stairs are set around a large square stone pillar rising to the attics. The house has been modernised within, and has been reroofed. The parapet and gable ends are modern and a Georgian window has been inserted into the south face. There are modern porches on this side, and a modern single-storey addition adjoins the north side. The plan of the house is unusual in being in the form of a cross, the north and south wings being short, but of the same height as the principal block, giving the house a very lofty appearance. Mrs Bowett confirmed that the house was formerly the Lodge to Worksop Park and was built with stone from Worksop Castle. 25" AM Correctly shown. GP/A0/59/256/4 from S. (4)

Originally a lodge to the C16 Worksop Manor. Possibly a hunting or guest lodge. The ingenious plan suggests that Robert Smythson, who built the manor, was also responsible for the lodge. There must have been at least one more [storey], for the main staircase breaks off suddenly in the attic under a later gabled roof. Simple chamfered stone doorcases and fireplaces. (6)

Worksop Manor Lodge (formerly Lodge Farm) Hunting lodge, later country house c. 1590. Probably by R. Symthson (who designed Worksop Manor). A fire in 2007 destroyed the roof and upper three floors, currently (2015) on the Heritage at Risk Register. (12)

Manor Lodge. Known as Worksop Lodge in C17 and C18. It is unusual in plan, like a cross, with a short but wide cross-bar and long, rather thin, wings to either side. Evidence suggests that it may orginally have been 1 storey higher, with a flat roof. (Fuller account, illus) (13)
