Full Description

From Wirkesop to Newhagge by very wooddi grownd about a mile. Newhagge is a park hard on the right hond as I went longging to the King. A mile beyond Newhag stil by wood I rode over Gerburton (Carburton) brooke. (1)
This appears to be the park laid down in Saxton's map as N of Worksop Manor. (2)
No trace of the boundaries of this park has been encountered during perambulation of the ground to the N of Worksop Manor. The place name "Haggonfields" may not be without significance, at SK 56588006. (3)
(2) and (3) have both assumed this park to be N of Worksop, when in fact is was to the S. The Earl of Shrewsbury obtained land in this area from the King in 1541, to make Worksop Manor Park. (4)
See M5359 for Old Worksop Park, M4395 for Worksop Manor Park.
